Yusuke Tsuchiya often entitles his works with short, unemotional words, as seen in such pieces as “Lid”, “Radicle” and “Pupa”, which may be interpreted as the viewer pleases. Distilled with a certain hush, his works suggest the still surface of a lake, observed from afar. His simple terracotta pieces are at times veiled in a mist of grey transparent glaze which only goes to reveal the very beauty of the material itself. In his ongoing motif of the human figure he confronts the harshness of reality and the very split of the self.
