Art fairs play a central role in the art market. By selling work from several international galleries at a single venue, they provide the opportunity to compare works and make price adjustments, bringing fluidity to the art market.
At Art Fair Tokyo, 157 galleries (138 from Japan, 19 from overseas) will present antiques as well as modern and contemporary art. The main section “Galleries” dominates the space, while “Projects” introduces artists to watch for now. “Artistic Practices” is curated under the concept that “artistic experimentation has always existed in every period and style.” The “100 Kin” section,” operated in line with the corporate tax revisions of last year, features works with price tags of ¥1,000,000 or less. There will also be two corporate displays and international media from 14 outlets.
