Ken Takakura

Tokyo Station Gallery
Finished

Artists

Tadanori Yokoo, Daido Moriyama et al.
Ken Takakura appeared in 205 films, leaving his mark on an entire era of yakuza films and acting in many famous and high-profile works. In his later years, he was the actor that Japanese moviegoers most wanted to see. Takakura passed away in November 2014. In this exhibition, we look back at his work as a film actor, and again publically honor his accomplishments. This exhibition’s foremost feature is its presentation of Takakura scenes extracted from all 205 of his films. In addition, we have also brought together rare items including scripts and props owned by Takakura, as well as still photographs, posters, and press sheets. Visitors can retrace the path taken by an extraordinary film actor whose career developed along with his times.
