Aki Kuroda
Aki Kuroda was born in Kyoto in 1944, moving to Paris in 1970 and joining the 1980 Paris Youth Biennial in 1980. In 1993 he was then the youngest artist to present a solo exhibition at The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, and later that year joined the Sao Palo Biennial. He also came to combine this art practice with editing of art journals such as Noise and Cosmissimo with contributions from the likes of Jacques Derrida and Michel Serres. This exhibition conti/nuit/é utilizes a term oft used by Kuroda since the 70s and implies a continuation of the night. Whilst his colors are bold and colorful, suggesting something rather pop-like in his approach there is also the important presence of black and blue, which seem to reflect a presence at the depths of the night sea. On this occasion he takes Capsule as his canvas and embarks on a new production.
