This exhibition by leading contemporary artists and Yokohama College of Art and Design students will showcase the results of a workshop held over the last six months on the topic of “narrative.” The title of the exhibition, “Narrative of Narrative, Art of Art,” reflects how new stories are often derived from events and memories that have have been handed down and re-experienced. The sympathy or sense of distance one has with a story, and the danger of uncertainty and misreading of the facts, can be linked directly with the imagination and influence of others. While exploring at the power of imagination, this exhibition will offer the chance to think about the question of whether art can be a utopia of mutual understanding in this era when intolerance towards others dominates.
