Artists

Shotaro Hokari, Kiichi Kawamura
Shotaro Hokari creates sculptures which deal with the ‘boundaries with others’ and ‘a diluted sense of reality’ which he himself seems to feel in ordinary life. He explains that for him it is necessary to be an artist who “binds images, which are like daydreams, to become near tangible things through the materials he uses.” These images which have been given a body from these said materials then come to create a mutual influence upon the space around them. For this exhibition the space will be configured in accordance with several new works with a focus on ‘the relationship of the scene.’
Kiichi Kawamura is a young artist who works through the expression of video and photography with a keyword of “if you can’t see something, leave it unseen.” For this exhibition old and new works of video and photography have been brought together. For Kawamura the expression of the moving image and photography are not tools for visualizing the invisible, but are rather tools by which we can re-recognize ourselves and the existence of what can’t be seen.
