This exhibition will showcase Futo Akiyoshi’s new series “something too much”. In this series, Akiyoshi focuses on the tools for painting, utilizing as many tools as possible in one painting, whilst executing the image only in a single color. Here the harmony of the image is composed not only by colors and shapes but also by various texture. This diversity, limitation and harmony constitute the rule of this series, and the rule itself becomes the aim of these works.
His style is characterized by this play with rules, which are strictly established for each work and by following the rule, he suggests the basic components of painting.
