Taro Okamoto Museum of Art, Kawasaki
Finished

Artists

Eisaku Ando, Shunji Iwai, Taro Okamoto et al.
Twenty years after the Great Hanshin Earthquake and five after the Great Tohoku Earthquake, the Kumamoto Earthquake occurred this year. People in Japan live with the knowledge that earthquakes and tsunamis can strike and kill multitudes of people at any time. Amid the sadness and pain that these natural disasters bring, what can the activities of creation, expression, and art do? This exhibition explores such possibilities through works by Tohoku artists and others affected by the earthquake, along with Taro Okamoto’s major work “The Myth of Tomorrow.”
