“Post-Museum? Or How the Medium Transforms the Art World” Talk Event

The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo
Finished

Artists

Boris Groys, Akira Asada, Kenjin Miwa
A series of symposiums exploring the potential of art in society with contemporary art critic Boris Groys will be held in Tokyo and Osaka. Through the analysis of contemporary art and society advanced in his seminal work “Art Power” (MIT Press, 2008), Groys has developed new perspectives on Eurocentric art history. For this series of symposiums, Groys will expand upon the arguments raised in “Art Power” for a Japanese audience by speaking about relationships between art and society, as well as recent trends in contemporary art in the global market. He will be joined by emerging artists, art historians and critics, who will discuss with him the issues unique to contemporary art in Japan today.
