This event has ended.

Yasue Kodama began her painting career in the 1980s with a series of still lifes, followed by simple but powerful abstract works in the 1980s. She currently continues to work on a series called “Deep Rhyme,” referring to a pre-conscious awareness of things that suddenly appear within nature or exist within its depths. “Whiteout,” the subtitle of this exhibition, directly indicates snow, and is based on the experience of the world turning entirely white in its drifts. These works portray the plants and scrub the artist goes strolling through. She feels that the light she sees among them reflects her own soul, and painting them white on the canvas gave her the physical sensation of being in nature.
