Generation Y” refers to the specific generation born between the end of the Vietnam War and the fall of the Berlin Wall. They witnessed the demise of the Cold War and the downfall of socialism in their early teens. At the same time, this generation was born into the emerging world of the Internet. Adapting themselves to the fast-changing society, today they are making the world their stage with their own self-definitions and values beyond culture and race.

In this exhibition, works by Adrian Ghenie, Jonas Wood, and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye: the of the worldʼs hottest young contemporary artists will be shown from the collection of Yusaku Maezawa, the Founder and President of Contemporary Art Foundation, and Start Today Co., Ltd., which runs Japanʼs biggest online fashion mall, Zozotown. Coincidentally, these artists were all born in 1977, the beginning of Generation Y, and are known worldwide for their figurative paintings. The exhibition will explore three different and innovative creations, through the medium that is the most conventional.
