Okayama Art Summit 2016 is the first edition of a new triennial contemporary art exhibition to be held in Okayama, Japan. It will feature 31 important contemporary artists. The artistic director of this first edition is Liam Gillick, a British-born and New York-based artist who re-examines relationships between people and society through sculpture, film, outdoor installations, writing, and exhibition planning.

The theme of this year’s event is “Development.” Here meaningful works of art created by an international mix of artists in Okayama are on display, along with films and large-scale installations making their debuts in Japan. Encounter these artists’ ideas while strolling around displays in the unique scenery of Okayama, experiencing artistic exchanges that let you travel back and forth between different times, histories, and borders.
