“One Hundred Nails” Film Screening

Ginza Maison Hermès
Finished
Le Studio is a 40-seater private cinema located on the 10th floor of Maison Hermès Ginza. The 2017 film program is organized around the theme “Le Sense du Objet (Object Sense)” and the title that will screen throughout June is “One Hundred Nails,” a film about a man who has walked away from everything to discover the richness of life.

A shocking incident occurs at the start of the summer vacation, when a large number of old books are discovered nailed to the floor of the library at the University of Bologna, Europe’s oldest university. The suspect is a young philosophy professor who disappears suddenly. This man with a bright future has thrown away his wallet and disposed of his car in order to start a new life by the quiet riverbed of the Po. Having fled in desperation, he revives his zest for life and discovers truth through his exchanges with local people. This masterpiece is the last feature directed by Ermanno Olmi and is a wholehearted film that expresses the fruits of a sincere life through stunning cinematic allegory.
