Adventures in color and shape

Hara Museum ARC
Finished

Artists

Karel Appel, Kenneth Noland, Tom Wesselmann, Roy Lichtenstein, Yayoi Kusama
Often contemporary artists do not try to capture subjects realistically, but experiment with colors and shapes in order to communicate a specific message or image of something, or to give form to something invisible or unnameable. While exploring color and shape, this exhibition will introduce works from the museum collection that represent a range of themes, such as the overwhelming anger and violence typified by subjects like war and terrorism, prayers for peace, awe for nature, tributes to the history of art, and expressions of the joy of life.
