Haruka “an essence”

Radium von Roentgenwerke AG
Finished

Artists

Haruka
Haruka creates works primarily using “kirie,” the Japanese art of papercutting. She combines this technique with threads and fabric - materials that that have previously formed only a portion of her works - here giving them equal precedence; the presence of these threads is increased, allowing the kirie to faints quietly behind the silk.
Haruka has said of these works, “I trace the outline of the kirie with a needle and a thread. And it is only that outline that you and I can surely see as exactly the same thing.” By taking up the needle and thread, the artist invites the viewer to follow her own gaze.
