Artists

Masami Kidachi
Masami Kido pursues the possibilities of moving sculpture in jointed dolls she has been making since 1981. She has held several group and solo exhibitions, and her dolls were featured in the film “Rinne” (2005). While many doll-makers in Japan create fully realized, structurally beautiful, and finely detailed works, Kido is the rare artist who accomplishes these feats while understanding the mysterious powers of doll and has the ability to convey their power to the viewer. Around ten of Kido’s works are on display, including complexly colored full-bodied dolls, masks, and her trademark clear resin, insect-encasing dolls.
