Sarasa is a type of calico decoration for cloth (mainly cotton) using hand-drawn designs and patterns. It originated in India but has been practiced in Japan since the Edo period. This exhibition presents 22 types of Sarasa kimonos from the Edo through Showa periods, plus examples of Indian Sarasa.
