This exhibition is jointly presented by Misako & Rosen and Tomio Koyama Gallery, with a concurrent exhibition of the same name running at Tomio Koyama Gallery from March 18 to April 22, 2017.
“The Outside of Distance” will feature work by Brazilian artist Paulo Monteiro in a variety of media, including paintings, works on paper, and sculptures, which will be presented in distinctive installations that consider the relationship between the artist’s work and the particular nature of the differing gallery exhibition spaces. Ranging from drawings on paper from 1990 to paintings on canvas from 2017, “The Outside of Distance” will offer audiences in Japan an introduction to and overview of the present practice of this highly important Brazilian artist. Monteiro (b. 1961) was born and presently lives and works in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
