“Handscape” is a term coined from a combination of the words “hand” and “scape.” Referring to a landscape created by human hands, it does not concern something focusing on a specific part, but rather an overall view from a distance.
Here two Swedish artists have been invited to work together with gallery visitors in a project where they will create a large rug using remnant materials left over from MUJI’s production processes. Combining design, ideas and the power of the human hand, “waste” material will be transformed into a beautiful piece of art. This project allows visitors to experience the pleasure of engaging with sustainability and explore new values with their very own hands.
What is it that we choose as customers? What is it that makes us challenge ourselves to create something? There are many ways to enjoy this exhibition: join the project, watch the process and imagine the completed piece. The inspiration for this rug piece is “clouds,” and with the help of visitors, this art piece will change little by little each day.
