Artists

Junta Egawa
Junta Egawa considers painting to be an accumulation of traces of pigments that have been applied, moved and squeezed. He is an artist who attempts to reinterpret materials, as well as devise various physical approaches. Egawa spent a long time testing his methods at his studio in Yokosuka before moving onto a new space in Kawasaki. At this solo exhibition, Egawa will present brand new artworks created in his latest studio. He produces his works using a silkscreen plate that he has named after his medical card number. In this sense, Egawa regards pigments as medicine. When an artist uses too much medicine, is it a good thing for the art? See how Egawa explores this question here.
