Almost all of the works here are by so-called amateurs, drawn with standard stationary meant for writing letters. The energetic images presented have been selected from among hundreds of sheets, all produced by people who are isolated from their families and wider society either for serious reasons or due to suspicion. Each of us sees our life in terms of connections, with ourselves, with others, with society.
Following last year’s “Extreme Art 2 - Works from Death Row” exhibition Kushino Terrace, this show at Atsukobarouh Arts Drinks Talk will present works chosen from among public submissions received by the Daidoji-Akahori Fund for Abolition of the Death Penalty since 2005.
