From the Terada Collection #057: Man, The Unknown

Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery
Finished

Artists

Yoshitomo Nara, Kiyoshi Hasegawa, Takayoshi Sakabe, Tamie Okuyama et al.
This exhibition will examine human existence by presenting a selection of works featuring human motifs that come from the Terada Collection, which is home to more than 3500 works of art. When looking at another human being, often something chimes inside you, the viewer; gazing at others, you sometimes get a sense that you are simultaneously looking back at yourself. Collector Kotaro Terada is keen contemplate this by taking a bird’s-eye view of human figures gathered in one place, allowing one to consider, “What is a human being?” Here you will have the chance to ponder this question when viewing the more than 140 works on show.
