Open Space 2017: Re-envisioning the Future
This event has ended.
Exhibition introducing works of media art and other forms of artistic expression born out of today’s media environments. On display are leading works from the realm of media art, including artworks incorporating cutting-edge technology, works that express a critical standpoint, and projects by various research institutions that are still “in progress.” Conceived as an occasion for visitors to think about the background and context surrounding works, such as today’s diversified forms of media and communication, problems in contemporary society, future prospects and new sensibilities and aesthetics, each work is exhibited alongside explanatory notes that help assist understanding.
With 2017 marking the 20th anniversary of the opening of ICC, this twelfth installment of the “Open Space” series will look back on the past two decades while also reflecting on what kind of future we might propose for the decades to come.
A number of related programs including talk sessions, lectures, symposiums and workshops with artists and experts will accompany the exhibition, as will guided tours around the exhibits with explanations by curatorial staff.
Tours led by ICC curatorial staff will be held once a month.
