Works from Yoichi Umetsu’s “Unknown series” will be presented here. As Umetsu has only begun producing this series fairly recently, the pieces on show here are all paintings that he has been working on intensively since summer 2017. For Umetsu, the “Unknown series” is akin to a test site, allowing him to record fragments and thoughts related to various ancient painting languages of the east and west as if they were memos.
This mini solo exhibition is organized in conjunction with Tokyo Art Book Fair 2017, and will be held simultaneously with a Toshiyuki Konishi exhibition.
