Shunya Hata tirelessly produces industrial yet stylish and poetic objects that incorporate books hundreds of years old as well as various pre-war mechanical parts and iron materials. For this exhibition on the theme of “The Chromatography Research Assistant’s Glasses,” Hata will present new works that have been constructed using books from 18th century France and early 19th century Germany, Holland and Mongolia, as well as pre-war magazines from Italy, France and other countries, 19th century American wall clock parts, and various other materials.
Minoru Sato, a key figure in Japanese sound art and founder of the label WrK, is interested in acoustic phenomena. Here Sato will present a new work on the theme of “oxidation.”
