Side Core will hold an exhibition on the theme “Street Matters” compiled of work by seven artists and artist units. The word ‘matter’ can be used to refer to a problem, a subject or circumstances, denoting the state or situation of something. The movement and changeability that “matter” connotes can be understood in opposition to the fixed nature of material. Near to Block House is a section of Meiji Dori that is frequented by homeless people and popular among skateboarders who use the space for graffiti. The graffiti spreads along the wall, their guerrilla art evolving by the day. If you look carefully, you can observe the city transforming as it appears here.

The artists featured in this exhibition look to intervene in the order of things and affect change on public space by reflecting what they see as ‘alive’ in the city in their work. By addressing such matter they aim to shake our consciousness and senses, altering the perspective from which we see changes in the city.
