Hirohito Nakanishi
Athos, a registered world heritage and one of the largest sacred sites in Greek Orthodoxy, is a place of learning that is shrouded in mystery as a location off limits to both women and photography. This said, photographer Hirohito Nakanishi gained special permission to climb the mountain, for the fifth time, and come into close contact with the monks, gaining a sense of their human perspective and of the essence of orthodox prayer. The photographs taken by Nakanishi will express the meaning of prayers and pilgrimages, also considering what is necessary in the lives of those living in modern times.
