Yosuke Yajima
Born in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1981, Yosuke Yajima is a photographer who now lives and works in Tokyo. After picking up an award at “1_WALL” in 2009, he went on to participate in numerous group and solo exhibitions, winning further photography accolades at events in both Japan and overseas, including the Unseen PhotoFair Dummy Award Shortlist, Fotobook Festival Dummy Award Shortlist and Tokyo Frontline Photo Award. In his work Yajima approaches something of a gap, an incongruity, or a sense of unease, and despite maintaining a sense of anonymity, presents a manifestation of parallel signs that are both there and not there. This exhibition is organized around the series “Ourselves / 1981,” which Yajima worked on continuously between 2010 and 2015, and his latest series, “A way of seeing.” It is the first time in his career that he has presented his work on the street in a public place, embracing anonymous space.
