Kozue Shoji “Life Beyond The Eyes”

Kozue Shoji
The subject of Kozue Shoji’s work is all living creatures, large and small. She uses thread, cloth, wood, pens and other materials to stitch, stick, carve and draw artworks in her personal style. Shoji begins her drawings with the edge of the left eye, moving onto the body thereafter, and finishing up the work by painting the pupils of the eyes. The reason she begins and ends all work with the eyes is because it is here that she feels that life really breathes. The depth in the eyes of her small creatures is enough to spread far and wide. Through the eyes of these creatures and their unlimited possibility you can experience the vivid nature of Shoji’s work.
