Kiyoshi Kuroda
While visiting New York this summer, Kiyoshi Kuroda was struck by what he saw: scenes including plants, food packaging, crafts and taxidermy displays at museums, things thrown out on the street. His paper on panel works carefully recompose these images from everyday life, cutting color and dimension down to the minimum so that their subjects take on a thinned-out uniformity. At first glance these motifs may seem unrelated, but the impressions they leave become neutralized in black and white, plunging the viewer into Kuroda’s artistic world.
