Keiichi Tanaami
Both ukiyo-e woodcut prints and tatebanko (paper dioramas) were popular in the late Edo period (1603-1868) and the Meiji period (1968-1912). The many tatebanko parts needed to form a single diorama can be cut from a single sheet of printed paper. This exhibition at Ginza Tsutaya Book Store will present limited edition tatebanko dioramas produced by Keiichi Tanaami, a leading artist who has been active since the 1960s. You can enjoy both looking at these works and making them. Check out Tanaami’s scenes that combine art and images of Tokyo that have been produced specially for this event.
