Kana Otsuki uses acrylic paint to depict motifs such girls, chrysalises, and houses in a way that appears hollow or empty, mirroring the vacuous nature of contemporary Japan. Here in this solo exhibition she addresses the theme of “home” - the place where she lives - and through this confirms her own existence while also exploring the views held by family and those around her regarding life and death.
