Chuta Kimura: Embrace and Be Embraced by Light

Takasaki Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Chuta Kimura
Chuta Kimura’s works portray psychological realities evoked by light, air, and other invisible elements. This “spiritual impressionism” expresses the subtle emotional stirring from sudden encounters with light in layers of lines and all-encompassing color. For the 100th anniversary of Kimura’s birth, 95 of his oil paintings, pastels, pencil drawings, lithographs, sketches, and other works, mainly from the museum’s collection, are displayed.
