This event has ended.

This exhibition presenting the work of Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) and Marc Chagall (1887-1985) commemorates the museum’s 15th anniversary. Picasso and Chagall developed their distinctive styles in Paris when the city was the center of avant-garde creativity at the beginning of 20th century. Both men were affected by upheavals in their homelands and by the two world wars, though they continued to work prolifically throughout their lifetimes. Picasso famously said, “Every act of creation is first an act of destruction.” He repeatedly introduced innovations with his strong lines and distorted objects. Chagall gained recognition as a painter of color and stories through the light-filled narrative landscapes of his hometown. The two painters were both leading artists of the 20th century, each in their own unique way. This exhibition brings together around 80 works, mainly paintings, by the two men in order to explore their creative trajectories and attitudes towards peace.
