Artists

Baron Yoshimoto, Katusya Terada
Baron Yoshimoto and Katusya Terada are unusual artists who produce unique works that explore their personal approach to the creative process and encompass a wide range of art practices. Is it manga? Is it illustration? Is it art? Their works cannot be defined by any particular genre. “Bateira” is a combination of the name of each of these artists, though the word may well bring to mind battera sushi, made with pickled mackerel. In fact, the word “battera” is derived from “bateira,” which is the Portuguese word for small boat. Baron Yoshimoto and Katsuya Terada, two outsider artists, will float together in this exhibition. What influences will they have on each other’s practice? The process will at times lead to unexpected results, but it will also shed light on where the small boat is headed.
