Rhizomatiks

This exhibition celebrates the tenth anniversary of Rhizomatiks, an internationally renowned Japanese company that works across creative fields and employs cutting-edge technology to produce media art and large-scale live performances, as well as offer consultancy and creative strategics for the commercial sector and urban planning initiatives. Initially established as an artistic collective in 2006, the name of the group comes from the botanic term “rhizome,” which refers to underground stems that continuously grow horizontally while also putting out lateral shoots. Employing multi-disciplinary specialists such as hardware and software engineers, designers and project planners, the organization has continued to expand its activities and take on increasingly specialized projects. To this end they have established three departments, focusing on research, architecture and design.

This exhibition will offer an overview of the past ten years, revisiting projects that have formed the foundation of the group’s current activities. This will include media art works, music videos produced in collaboration with artists, and large-scale advertising projects. You will also get a chance to see behind-the-scenes experiments carried out during the various stages of production.
