Artists

Yoshinobu Ashihara
This exhibition explores the activities of Yoshinobu Ashihara, who designed a large number of famous buildings during the heyday of Modernism, from the 1950s to the 1970s. Through drawings, photographs and models held in the Yoshinobu Ashihara Architectural Archives that are part of the Musashino Art University collection, it will present ten of Ashihara’s masterpieces, including the university campus. Valuable reference materials such as drawings Ashihara made for projects while still studying at Harvard University will also be showcased. With digital data on all 300 of his works, time-lapse photography, and new architectural photographs, this exhibition presents what an architectural archive can and should be.
