In April 2017, Ota City Museum of Art and Library announced “Creative People of Ota” as a platform to bring creativity to this city within Tokyo. This event will mark the grand opening of Art Museum & Library, Ota, a new space that aims to become the hub of future city development. Ota City is known as the industrial city of North Kanto thanks to the founding of Nakajima Aircraft Company there by former naval officer Chikuhei Nakajima in May 1917. Dismantled after World War Two, this facility was symbolic Ota City.
In this inaugural exhibition organized around key phrases such as “discovery of culture,” “genetic creation” and “signal flare of our future,” a selection of paintings, craft works, photographs, videos, poetry, songs and many other artworks will be introduced. There will also be various projects produced in collaboration with local residents.
