Since antiquity, we have used various approaches, such as mathematical formulas and maps, to comprehend and become familiar with our world and its many planes. Initially the focus was the earth in its entirety, but now the scope spreads far beyond this, continuing to grow; thanks to our achievements, it is becoming possible to explain the world beyond the limits of humanity. There is a beauty to the sense of balance this creates, but also an inherent instability. Aya Bonkohara explores how paintings can exist in this world where the continuing effects of our actions remain unclear.
