The joker in a standard deck of playing cards is a reiteration of the card known as “The Fool” in tarot. Lacking a number, this card is often treated as having the value zero, while the meaning of tarot cards varies depending on whether they appear right side up or upside down, the latter giving an inverse reading. For The Fool, the basic reading refers to traits such as innocence, living in freedom, and travel, while the inverse suggests thoughtlessness, indecision, foolishness, and a lack of planning. In this exhibition, the role of the fool is likened to that of the artist, who rather than pursuing known quantities instead sets off on new adventures from their own unique point of view.

Artists participating in this event include Katsutoshi Yuasa, Yukiko Yanagida, Kentaro Hirano,Masanobu Seike, Kohei Kawasaki, Sumito Sakakibara, Kyoko Shindo, Yumie Saito, Hirotsune Tashima, Toshiyuki Tanaka, Hiroko Tsuchida, Hitoshi Tsuboyama, Mai Kurosaka, Fumiko Kikuchi, Monika Chlebek, Dawidn Czycz, Seiji Kumagai, Daisuke Tsuchigahata, Hideki Tokushige, Kenji Yamauchi, and Shinji Hinode.
