Nakanojo in Gunma Prefecture is a beautiful town not far from the city that is surrounded by magnificent nature. Picture a rural landscape covered with morning dew, historic and highly atmospheric onsen (hot springs), wooden school buildings of the past, and traditional farm houses. It is as if the scenery in this mountain village has been left behind by the modern world. With the advent of Nakanojo Biennale, however, artists have begun living and creating in this town, making their own platforms and establishing many new human connections. The 6th edition of this large-scale art event will present works by artists and local residents alike.
