Shashin Bunriha “The Unethics of Photography – Distance and Angle”

NADiff a/p/a/r/t
Finished

Artists

Ryudai Takano, Taiji Matsue, Shino Kuraishi, Jo Shimizu
In 2010 the group Shashin Bunriha (Photo Secessionists) comprising photographers Risaku Suzuki, Ryudai Takano, and Taiji Matsue and critics Shino Kuraishi and Jo Shimizu announced a declaration and held their own self-run exhibition. They have since continued their work while holding lectures. This exhibition coinciding with the publication of “Shashin no Hironri II – Kyori to Shikaku” (The Unethics of Photography II – Distance and Angle) documents the group’s activities since 2012, presenting their work from this period (with the exception of Risaku Suzuki’s). Along with the exhibition, a talk series will consider the past, present, and future perspectives in photography just as photographic culture is reaching a tumultuous turning point.
