Ken Hamaguchi
The images presented here are remix versions of Japanese alternative/punk band INU’s album “Meshi Kuuna (Don’t eat)” and the seven-inch cover of Showa Period (1926-1989) diva Ako Midorikawa’s hit song “Kasuba no Onna (Woman of the casbah).”
Artist Ken Hamaguchi claims that there is no deep reason for his choosing this subject matter - it’s simply that for him these images just seemed to fit together in his head. “Meshi Kuuna” is one of Hamaguchi’s favorite albums from his youth, and it appears he was keen to explore the song “Kasuba no Onna,” which has been covered by many artists to date.

Two new bodies of work will be presented in this exhibition, “Ultimate Rock’n’Roller” and “Ultimate Singer,” based on popular record covers combined with super realistic depictions of animals. There will also be a selection of pieces produced in collaboration with British artist Rob Kidney on show.
