Heritage of Living Culture - LIXIL’s treasures and memories of innovation

LIXIL Gallery 1 & 2
Finished

Artists

Taro Okamoto, Jakuchu Ito
Revolutionary innovations have brought about changes in the way we live, with artists and architects improving our dwellings, modifying the way we go about our daily lives, and changing the modern infrastructure and landscapes of the cities we reside in. Comprised of treasures selected from various perspectives from the collections of three museums managed by LIXIL, this exhibition will present approximately 50 different items that convey the essence of manufacture. This will include “Face,” the first ever ceramic work created by renowned sculptor Taro Okamoto, as well as objects such as painted toilets, woven items and the prototype for Japan’s first ever stainless steel sink (c. 1956). Each of the “treasures” will be displayed uniformly, as works of art, and viewers will be be offered a map to guide them around the items of living cultural heritage.
