Yu Hirai
Yu Hirai has focused mainly on photographic creation while living in Europe over the past 33 years. For this exhibition, however, she has temporarily taken a break from photography and will present recent watercolor drawings.
Hirai has worked on themes such as the relationship between human beings and dolls, cruelty and its relationship to children and childishness, her loneliness in observing Japanese society from the outside, and the meaning of identity. She expresses these in her drawing with a unique touch and sense of color, carefully unfolding the overlapping layers of the human spirit. Here you are invited to witness her revelations.
