Satomi Yamauchi “Post Palmtree”

Artists

Satomi Yamauchi
Much of Satomi Yamauchi’s work is inspired by her early childhood, when she spent much of her time in the state of Florida. It is Florida where she shot her works “this must be the place” and “celebration,” while the concept behind her work “two locals and the palm trees” is based on the experience of traveling between Shizuoka’s seaside town of Ito and Florida. Continuing in this tradition, the subject of her current work, which was shot in the Kanto region of Japan, is “tropical fantasy.” While capturing the palm trees’ unique characteristics realistically, there is an air of the unreal about her images.
