In 2015, this group which goes by the name “Suddenly, the View Spreads Out Before Us Committee” saw students and graduates from Musashino Art University and Korea University explore the theme of dialog and temporary bridges through an exhibition held across two venues, one at each of the universities. The exhibition centered on the construction of a temporary bridge that the boundary wall of each university. This time their latest collaboration exhibition, “To the other side of the boundaries,” has been selected for inclusion in the 6th Group Show of Contemporary Artists held Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.
They have continued with the theme of “dialog” by exploring the existence of walls. Walls can serve to clarify the position of people of both sides, forming a protective barrier but also intentionally emphasizing difference and dictating the direction one faces. Here the students straddle the boundary and open their eyes to a completely new position from which to see things.
