Hirotoshi Ito
Hirotoshi Ito, who runs his family’s stonemason business, creates incredible stone sculptures that have won him international acclaim. He incorporates a variety of materials into natural stone, such as zippers seen in his famed “Tight-Lipped Guy” and “Vampire,” a new work. Both displayed here for the first time, these works feature open zippers exposing sets of teeth that turn the stone convincingly into living, grinning creatures. Ito’s startling skill and wonderful artistry draw out the physical properties of the stone in ways that demonstrate the delightful richness of its expressions. Gallery Little High presents 20 of his playful, intriguing works.
