Kyuzaburo Ito: Fantasy and Poetry

Yokosuka Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Kyuzaburo Ito
Kyuzaburo Ito (1906–1977) was a leading Nitten Exhibition-featured artist whose Surrealist paintings leaned toward the avant-garde. After the WWII he returned to Kyoto, where he boldly continued to adapt to new styles. His works reflect a sense of rhythm and a rich poeticism. In this exhibition marking the 40th anniversary of Ito’s death and his first retrospective in 22 years, Yokosuka Museum of Art presents 150 of his works from early drawings to oil paintings and more, reflecting on his legacy on Japanese modern art.
