Artists

Yumeji Takehisa
Yumeji Takehisa began his career as an artist while still a student, after his work featured in the magazine “Chugakko sekai (The world of Junior High School)” in 1905. His work subsequently appeared in various magazines and garnered much popularity. He would contribute artwork for use on covers, title pages, and as illustrations, as well as working on typeface design and producing copy for publications. Throughout his lifetime, which spanned the Meiji, Taisho and Showa eras, he contributed to around 180 different titles and over 2200 magazine issues. This exhibition will focus on magazine works considered central to his practice as an artist.
